Parish Nurse Ministry
Keeping our congregation healthy - mind, body and soul

Mission Statement:
The mission of the Parish Nurse Committee is to promote and proclaim Christ's healing presence in the lives of the people of the Diocese of Virginia.
A Parish Nurse is a Registered Nurse committed to meeting the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of the whole person, and to promoting wellness through a healing ministry of the parish. She is a volunteer member of the church staff who develops health and wellness programs benefiting the congregational body and surrounding community and a lay leader who assists the congregation to identify, interpret, rediscover, and reclaim its historic role in the area of health/wellness.
The Parish Nurse serves as a health educator and counselor and as a referral source and liaison to commnity resources and services.
Our Parish Nurse
Helen Zebarth is our Parish Nurse. She is a volunteer and has an office in the Smith Building but does not have regular office hours. Helen assists the clergy in visiting those who are ill or infirm. She is also a vital part of our healing ministry at our Wednesday Noon Eucharist. On the third Wednesday of the month, she assists at a service of laying on of hands and anointing with oil for healing. She is available for counsel as well.

Need a Certified Nursing Assistant?
Should you know of someone in need of a reliable, responsible caregiver, this gentleman is described as “professional, compassionate and technically proficient, kind and gentle, a pillar of his church and an asset to his community.” With his recent hospice patient’s passing, this CNA is available to provide fulltime care as a live-in aide. This service will have a participating maid service in your zip code area and arrange for service for women undergoing chemo. This is a cleaning service that provides FREE housecleaning - one time per month for four months while a patient is in treatment.
